Photo drying, Lepel Mile, and a high-heeled race. How Lepel celebrated City Day
The brass band of the Zaslonovo garrison, the "Gratsiya" drum majorette ensemble, and the exemplary brass band of the Lepel Children's Art School marched on the city square; bikers sped by; Victoria Borodenok, the winner of the regional stage of the "Autoledi-2018" competition, demonstrated her driving skills; a mini-marathon "Lepel Mile - 579", a technology exhibition, and a high-heeled race took place.
On Leninskaya Street and in the city park, where improvised farmsteads of rural councils and educational institutions of the district were set up, one could taste potato pancakes, blini, pampushki, homemade cheeses, and other delicacies, and purchase vegetables, fruits, and berries. Craftsmen and artisans from the Center of Crafts offered souvenir magnets with Tsmok and national symbols, knitted booties and shawls, cattail and felted wool hats, bead jewelry, and wood and clay products.
Several competitions were held as part of the celebration. The Lepel rural council was recognized as the best farmstead among the rural councils. The "Staytski Prysmaki" national cuisine club prepared the most delicious potato pancakes. In the flower panel competition "My Little Homeland," the 1st place was awarded to the collective work of Secondary School No. 3 for the composition "My Native Corner."
The district local history museum organized a photo drying event "My View of the World" for the first time, inviting about a dozen regional photographers.
With funds from the district budget, a bus was purchased this year for the Borovaya Secondary School, and the keys were solemnly handed over to the school principal, Diana Mysina.
– The greatest wealth is the people thanks to whom the region is developing and prospering, – noted the Chairman of the Lepel District Executive Committee, Boris Efremov, congratulating the residents of Lepel and the city's guests on the holiday.
The title "Honorary Citizen of the City" was awarded this year to Raisa Borovets, director of the I. Erashov Gymnasium, who dedicated her entire life to pedagogical work at this educational institution.
Gifted and talented youth who excelled in studies, sports, and arts were honored in the summer amphitheater. Among them is Alesya Tarasevich, a 2018 graduate of the I. Erashov Gymnasium, who scored the highest score on the centralized testing in English.
– It is possible to score 100 points. The main thing is the desire, – the excellent student is sure.
The Ryabushchenko-Novikov pedagogical dynasty, spanning three generations, was also awarded. All of them work at the Borovskaya Secondary School. The founder of the dynasty was Svetlana Ivanovna Ryabushchenko, who dedicated 24 years to this school.
Her daughter Marina and her husband Sergey Novikov continue the relay. Marina Vitalievna has been teaching history for over 10 years, and her husband teaches physical education. Two years ago, Anastasia Novikova followed in the footsteps of her grandmother and parents; at her native school, she teaches chemistry and biology. The total pedagogical experience of the dynasty is 90 years.
Diplomas were also awarded to mentors in the profession. Anna Pligovko, head of the dry skimmed milk production workshop at the Lepel Dairy Plant branch of Vitebsk Meat Processing Plant OJSC, shared her experience with many newcomers, including Sergey Gridjushko in 2007, who is now an evaporation and condensation operator. Anna has repeatedly been awarded certificates for conscientious work.
Based on the results of 2011, she was awarded the honorary title "Person of the Year of the Vitebsk Region". Under her guidance, Sergey learned the basics of the profession, and today he himself teaches young workers, has repeatedly been recognized as the best in his profession, and has been inducted into the company's Honor Roll.
Diplomas were received by a coach and a student (4) of the regional specialized children's and youth sports school of the trade unions for kayaking and canoeing "Albatros", based in Lepel.
Coach-teacher Dmitry Yushkevich, during his work, has trained eight candidates for master of sports and master of sports Ilya Polonsky, a multiple champion of the Republic of Belarus, winner of the IV European Student Games in Portugal, and a member of the national team. Ilya is already training the younger generation himself.
The City Day concluded with a festive concert, fireworks, and a disco.
