October 3, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. A photo exhibition dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of Polotsk opens today at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the director of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve Tamara Dzhumantayeva told a BELTA correspondent. The 1150th anniversary of Polotsk is recognized by UNESCO as one of the most important international commemorative dates and has been included by this international organization in the 2012-2013 calendar. The decision was made at the 36th session of the UNESCO General Conference in Paris. The inclusion of the anniversary of the oldest Belarusian city in the honorary list testifies to the significance of this event for world culture. In this regard, the jubilee city has been given the opportunity to hold an exhibition in its honor at UNESCO headquarters. The photo exhibition "Ancient Polotsk - Modern Polotsk" is presented in Paris. It consists of more than 60 works by photojournalist Igor Supranenko, which tell about the city and its residents. Four pairs of photographs show the same objects taken from the same point with a century's difference. According to Tamara Dzhumantayeva, the photo exhibition will reveal new facets of the Belarusian city to visitors and show its dynamic development. The exhibition will be on display until October 9. -0-
