September 28, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Female footballers of the German club "Duisburg-2001" will arrive in Vitebsk today to participate in the 1/16 final match of the UEFA Women's Champions League against the Vitebsk team "University", the administration of the Belarusian club informed a BELTA correspondent. The game will take place on September 30 at the Central Sports Complex of the regional center.
The German team will stay at the "Luchesa" hotel complex and is expected to try out the pitch of the Vitebsk CSC on September 29. It is difficult to say at the moment about the presence of fans from Germany at the match, as no official applications for booking seats for the German club's fans have been received yet, the administration reported.
Vitebsk fans are preparing to give strong support to the "University" footballers, which will be very necessary in the game against the strongest club in Europe. The German club "Duisburg-2001" won the last edition of the UEFA Cup last season, which will now be replaced by the Champions League. Ticket sales at the CSC ticket offices began last week, and they are being actively purchased, including by applications from enterprises and organizations. "Of course, we do not expect a full house at this international match, but we hope that the active support of the city residents will help our footballers to have a worthy meeting with a reputable opponent," Mikhail Chernomordov, deputy director of the CSC, told a BELTA correspondent. The football arena is fully ready to host the match, all issues have been worked out, he added.
The return match will take place on October 7 in Duisburg. The winner of this two-leg duel will face the best team of the pair "Zurich" (Switzerland) - "Linköping" (Sweden) in the 1/8 finals. -0-
