A football match between priests and secular youth will take place in Braslav

August 18, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. An unusual football match will again take place in Braslav at the annual diocesan youth meeting. A team of secular young amateur footballers will compete against a team of priests and clerics, Father Leshek (Witwicki), coordinator of the diocesan meeting, told a BELTA correspondent. According to the clergyman, such football matches have already become a good tradition. Last year, the priests' team won, and the year before last, the youth team won. The diocesan youth meeting is being held for the fourth time. As a rule, about 400 young people from various parts of the Vitebsk region come to it. As Father Leshek emphasized, the main goal of these meetings is to introduce young people to each other and show them that free time can be spent beneficially, and not only in prayers. That is why the program of the meetings, which will be held in Braslav from August 19 to 22 at the Sanctuary of Our Lady Queen of Lakes, includes not only a football match, but also a disco, a night bonfire with a presentation of participants' talents, and discussions with priests, along with divine services. This time, the diocesan meeting will be held on the eve of a significant event for all Catholics in Belarus: on August 22, the coronation of the icon of Our Lady Queen of Lakes with papal crowns will take place, the priest recalled. Young people will have the opportunity to participate in all events related to the coronation, and to offer a joint prayer asking that the celebration in Braslav bring abundant spiritual fruits. -0-
