August 24, Minsk /Corr. BELTA/. The State Automobile Inspectorate of Belarus will hold a special comprehensive event "Attention Children" from August 25 to September 10 in connection with the start of the academic year. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the State Automobile Inspectorate.
Large-scale campaigns will be held in the country aimed at drawing drivers' attention to the strict and unwavering observance of traffic rules and caution when driving near children's institutions and in residential areas. Also, various contests, quizzes, and film lectures will be held for all road users.
The traffic police recommend that all drivers drive with their low beam headlights on during these days.
The State Automobile Inspectorate is particularly concerned about child road traffic injuries, as in Belarus, 20 children died and 319 were injured to varying degrees in 312 road accidents over the seven months of the current year. Of the 20 children who died, only two were injured through their own fault. Of the total number of injured children, children caused accidents in 95 cases. The remaining children became victims of accidents due to the negligent attitude towards traffic rules on the part of adults.-0-
