ГАИ Витебской и ГИБДД Смоленской областей почтят память жертв ДТП

Employees of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Vitebsk and Smolensk regions will hold an event on the border of the two countries dedicated to the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, reported Olesya Seregina, head of the agitation and propaganda department of the traffic police department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is observed worldwide on the third Sunday of November. However, for a number of reasons, the event dedicated to this day will be held by representatives of the traffic police department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and the traffic police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Smolensk region on November 13 – on the border of the two regions, near the village of Zaolsha, Liozno district. Schoolchildren will join the uniformed officers – the team of young traffic inspectors from Babinichi Secondary School of Orsha district, multiple participants of the republican competition of young traffic inspectors.

"The children, together with us, will distribute children's drawings and leaflets to drivers and pedestrians, and conduct a social survey on road behavior culture, the results of which we will later publish in the media. Also, the young traffic inspectors have prepared posters on large sheets of Whatman paper, with which they will stand along the road for some time, forming a kind of avenue of appeals to drivers with a request to observe traffic rules," explained Olesya Seregina. In addition, road users will be invited to put their signature under a kind of commemorative address, ending with the words "Say 'no' to road tragedies!".

Afterwards, traffic police officers from the Belarusian and Russian sides will exchange their copies of this address. At the end of the event, a bunch of black balloons with three mourning ribbons tied to it will be released. This is the number of children who have died since the beginning of the year on the roads of the Vitebsk (1) and Smolensk (2) regions. Following the balloons, a red Chinese lantern will fly into the sky – in memory of all victims of road traffic accidents.
