Vitebsk region traffic police will check road conditions

State Automobile Inspectorate officers of the Vitebsk region will check the condition of winter roads, Olesya Seregina, head of the agitation and propaganda department of the traffic police department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate, told a BELTA correspondent. The "Winter Road" operational and preventive campaign will be held in the region from February 9 to 19. For ten days, state traffic inspectors of the region will check the work of road maintenance organizations, utility services of executive committees, the availability and technical condition of machinery and equipment, and supplies of de-icing materials. They will also visit accident sites that occurred in areas with unsatisfactory road conditions. Together with representatives of motor transport organizations, media, and officials of road and utility organizations, traffic police officers will conduct control checks on the quality of road and street maintenance. In case of violations, responsible officials will be brought to administrative responsibility. The campaign is aimed at improving road safety and strengthening control over the maintenance of the street and road network in winter conditions. Local authorities, district and city road safety commissions will be informed about the results of its implementation. -0-
