Гандбольный центр открылся в Витебске
Significant attention is paid to the development of physical culture and sports in our region, as it is a crucial factor determining the health of the nation. The achievements of our athletes in international arenas bring glory to Belarus. Handball has become one of the most productive Olympic team sports for the country.

Therefore, the opening of a handball center in Vitebsk will contribute to an increase in the number of handball enthusiasts and open up new prospects for them in developing their skills and winning high-profile medals.

The new facility is located on the basis of the sports complex of the Vitebsk Radio Parts Plant "Monolit". The solemn opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev, the Head of the Investigative Committee of Belarus, who heads the Board of Trustees of the Belarusian Handball Federation, Ivan Noskevich, the Head of the BHF Vladimir Konoplev, and the head coach of the country's men's national team in this sport, Yuri Shevtsov. Also, renowned handball players came as guests – Sergey Rutenko, a 6-time winner of the Champions League and a 4-time winner of the European Super Cup, and Sergey Bulygin, an Olympic champion and a 4-time world champion.

— The new sports facility should attract fans of an active lifestyle and become a springboard for future champions, — said Nikolai Sherstnev. — This event is a real celebration for the residents of the city and the region.

— The hall will allow for organizing the training of handball players at a higher level, — informed Ivan Noskevich. — Unfortunately, so far, not as many children are involved in this sport in the Vitebsk region as in other regions. I hope that in the near future, thanks to the attention of the local authorities, this situation will change.

Ivan Danilovich also presented the representatives of the Children and Youth Sports School and the Vitebchanka team with sets of game uniforms and balls. In addition, the Belarusian Handball Federation gifted the Vitebsk team an electronic scoreboard and a set of goals.

The handball center has all the conditions for holding competitions, training sessions, rehabilitation, and recreation for athletes and coaches. A significant contribution to this was made by the director of Monolit, Akif Gasymov. He took over the regional handball federation a year ago and breathed new life into it. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, a friendly match was held in the sports hall – the first to test the court were HC Masheka from Mogilev and the youth national team of the country.
