The creation of the Geographic Information System for the Orsha District will begin this year

The creation of a geographic information system for the Orsha district is scheduled to begin in 2019, Chairman of the State Property Committee Andrei Gaev told reporters.

"The geographic information system of the Orsha district, the work on which is to begin in the current year, is aimed at forming a unified information space in the region and supporting managerial decision-making. Subsequently, other similar resources can be created for the regions and the republic as a whole," Andrei Gaev said.

Among the new projects of the State Property Committee is also the corporate system "Lesfond" for the Ministry of Forestry. It will allow for the accounting of forest resources using innovative methods. More than 40% of Belarus's territory is covered by forests, and the new system will help manage these resources effectively and promptly. In cooperation with the organizations of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, a registry of water resources has been developed using the example of the Brest region, as well as a project for maintaining a registry of specially protected natural areas using the example of the Korelichi district of the Grodno region.
