Chairman of the regional council of deputies Vladimir Terentyev took part in a subbotnik in Rossony
Residents of the district center tidied up the memorial complex at the burial site of soldiers and partisans who died during the Great Patriotic War. Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentyev worked alongside them.
As Chairman of the Rossony District Executive Committee Vladimir Bykov noted, this is the third clean-up event dedicated to the upcoming memorable date. The celebrations will take place on September 23. During the first two events, funds were raised for the reconstruction of the memorial, and at the current one, people dismantled old tiles and carried out other work.
The memorial complex was erected in 1965 and, although it has been consistently maintained in good condition, it requires reconstruction. More than 2.5 thousand people are buried here, including the mother of the legendary partisan commander and former head of the country, Pyotr Masherov, who was shot by the Nazis and whose 100th birthday will be celebrated next year.
As Vladimir Terentyev emphasized, 150 thousand rubles have been allocated from the regional budget for the reconstruction of the memorial. It is planned to completely renovate this sacred place, arrange an Alley of Glory, where the memory of six Heroes of the Soviet Union and Socialist Labor, as well as one full Cavalier of the Order of Glory, natives of the district, will be immortalized. As the head of the region's deputy corps assured, assistance will also be provided to the Museum of Combat Brotherhood, where a separate hall is dedicated to Pyotr Masherov, the organizer of the partisan movement in Rossony.
Vladimir Terentyev also took part in the opening of a new X-ray room at the central district hospital, equipped with the most modern equipment.
