Chairman of the Regional Council Vladimir Terentyev congratulated Bishop of the Vitebsk Diocese Oleg Butkevich on Christmas
By tradition, the Divine Liturgy was held at the Church of Jesus the Merciful. And on Christmas morning, Vladimir Terentyev visited the head of the Vitebsk Diocese.
— 2018 is the Year of Small Motherland. I am grateful that Catholics are building and maintaining churches in rural areas in proper condition, — said Vladimir Vladimirovich. — We have many joint projects, including in the social sphere. Perhaps the largest upcoming events are the 20th anniversary of the Vitebsk Diocese and the 10th anniversary of the coronation of the icon of the Mother of God, the Mistress of the Lakes in Braslav, which will be celebrated in 2019.
The Bishop thanked Vladimir Terentyev for his attention and emphasized that the church and local authorities cooperate closely in the region.
— Catholicism is a traditional religion and one of the main ones in the Vitebsk region, — noted Oleg Butkevich. — Indeed, next year we have many round dates, celebrations will be held in all parishes of the region.
