Chairman of the Regional Council Vladimir Terentyev highly praised the new social facilities in Novopolotsk
During his working trip, Vladimir Terentyev, accompanied by Chairman of the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee Dmitry Demidov and Chairman of the City Council of Deputies Vyacheslav Durnov, visited the new educational and laboratory building of Polotsk State University in the settlement of Mezhdurechye, which houses the faculties of Law and Sports and Pedagogy.
Rector of PSU Dmitry Lazovsky explained that the renovation and creation of modern conditions for successful student training were carried out in a short period using the university's own resources and extrabudgetary funds on the premises transferred by OJSC Naftan.
Specifically, the unique courtroom is equipped with video conferencing capabilities for remote work. Specialized rooms for forensics, anatomy, and physiology have been set up, along with separate spaces for conferences and negotiations, arbitration, and student legal aid services. Additionally, a wellness center is available for students, faculty, and residents of the region. The facility includes several fitness and sports halls, areas for table tennis, a sauna, and outdoor courts for tennis and mini-football.
To enhance the comfort and aesthetics of the educational environment, each of the four buildings in the academic zone is decorated in a specific color scheme: red, lemon, green, and orange. A cozy atmosphere has been created in the light lilac dining hall of the La Gusto cafeteria, offering not only delicious food but also a pleasant place to relax. The relocation of the university faculties has also revitalized the settlement of Mezhdurechye and improved its public transportation services.
After inspecting the facility, Vladimir Terentyev described it as one of the best in the republic.
– I expected to see something substantial and modern, but I didn't even imagine that the complex could be
so amazing. Today's students can only be envied," said Vladimir Vladimirovich. He advised to use the created material and technical base more widely for advertising the educational services of PSU, including inviting foreign students, of whom there are currently 250 studying at the university.
The Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies also visited the recently commissioned primary school in the new microdistrict. He inspected the excellently equipped classrooms, talked with teachers and children. He was pleasantly surprised by the variety of dishes offered in the canteen and buffet. In the library, he promised assistance in improving the book fund. In general, he concluded that the decision to build a unique comprehensive educational and pedagogical facility, which also includes a nursery-kindergarten and an inter-school block with a swimming pool, sports and assembly halls, was correct: it is interesting and comfortable for children to study here.
It was important for Vladimir Terentyev to see the next social facility as the chairman of the regional swimming federation. The "Sadko" Water Sports Palace previously belonged to OJSC "Naftan", and a year ago it was transferred to the city. The swimming pool basin, which is the largest in the Vitebsk region, has been renovated here: it has eight lanes, 50 meters long, and can host international competitions. The facility also offers four sports halls and a wellness center with a sauna. The material and technical base has improved, and now the sports complex must be used with maximum efficiency.
Vladimir Terentyev noted that the social sphere of Novopolotsk continues to develop successfully, despite difficult economic conditions. This was confirmed by the Deputy Chairman of the City Executive Committee Oleg Buevich.
In particular, the investment program for 2017 includes the development of design and estimate documentation for another kindergarten in the new microdistrict, work is underway in the park of culture and recreation, and significant progress is planned in equipping the healthcare sector with new equipment.
