Head of the regional health department Yuri Derkach: there are no cases of deaths caused by coronavirus in the Vitebsk region
In the Vitebsk region, as noted by Yuri Derkach, head of the main department for healthcare of the regional executive committee, 5 people have been discharged after recovery, and we are awaiting test results for other patients who had clinical manifestations of the disease. Doctors are professionally doing their job, the situation is completely under control, there are no deaths caused by coronavirus. Everything that medical staff needs to perform their duties is being done, other services and departments respond to their requests quickly and specifically.
Yuri Nikolaevich urged fellow citizens to be more compassionate to each other and not to spread rumors, not to expect any deaths, as if we do not live in the same region, not in the same country. Medical workers, on the contrary, need the moral support of society, an understanding of the complexity and responsibility of their work, which has increased many times over during this period of load. And then it will be easier for them to perform their functions. A disease like pneumonia is always dangerous, especially if bacterial damage to the body occurs against the background of serious chronic diseases - cardiovascular disorders, arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and others.
Yesterday, from a message from the press service of the Council of Ministers, it became known that the government of Belarus has instructed the Ministry of Finance to allocate more than 2.3 million rubles from the budget for measures to prevent the import and spread of infection caused by COVID-19. Of these, the Vitebsk region budget will receive more than 143 thousand rubles.
What is required of every citizen? To follow the recommended rules of personal and public hygiene, to self-isolate after returning from abroad, to strictly maintain social distancing, i.e., to stay at least one meter apart in public places. This slows down the spread of the virus and reduces the number of patients who may require hospitalization simultaneously, according to WHO specialists. This will allow the healthcare system to withstand the increased load and provide quality care. By the way, it is also necessary to maintain a distance of at least one meter when going for a walk. Coronavirus is a challenge for everyone, you cannot think that nothing depends on me, a small person. Even when staying at home more than usual, you need to do physical exercises, monitor your diet, and take care of your mental health. Panic is generated by ignorance. Therefore, increase your awareness, engage in self-education.
By the way, one of the competent sources of information about the infection is the video blog of Ivan Zhiltsov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Personalized and Evidence-Based Medicine of the Faculty of Professional Development and Retraining of Vitebsk State Medical University, which he started on the YouTube channel of the specialized publishing house "Medical Literature". In the latest issue, Ivan Vladimirovich, in a question-and-answer format, addressed the topics of the effectiveness of wearing protective masks, analyzed information on the features of immunity formation in those who have recovered from coronavirus infection and the possibility of re-infection, based on serious sources. He also expressed his point of view on the sufficiency and effectiveness of the anti-epidemic measures being taken in our country. The Doctor of Medical Sciences believes that the epidemiological process is proceeding more or less smoothly, preventive measures are working, and it is clear that if the situation worsens, the restrictions will become more stringent.
