Vitebsk Region Governor Alexander Subbotin: Interest in rural life is growing among Belarusians
In anticipation of the President's Address to the Belarusian people, the governor recalled that in the previous Address, the head of state paid special attention to regional development, especially the development of rural areas. "There were many plans and ideas. But the sanction hysteria interfered a little, and the COVID situation slowed down the pace. But in general, there are plans, there are prospects, all that remains is to implement them," noted Alexander Subbotin.
According to him, every region, not only Vitebsk, pays special attention to the agricultural sector. "In the previous Address, the task was set not to leave villages inconvenient for living, backward. Time shows that by 2025 we will have to do this. Simply because if we do not revive the village, it will simply cease to exist. The "Village of the Future" program is being developed clearly and intensively," the governor said. As an example, he cited the restoration of lands affected by the Chernobyl disaster, as well as Vitebsk integration structures.
Even now, even against the backdrop of general urbanization, there is a return of the population to the regions - the value of life on one's own plot is growing. "People are showing more interest in living not in the city, but at least in the suburbs. And the epidemiological situation influenced this - it is safe there, fresh air. And, having lived there, people no longer want to return to the city, except for work," added Alexander Subbotin.
