Head of Vitebsk Region Alexander Subbotin met with representatives of the Commission on Energy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia

Issues of Belarus and Russia forming unified electricity and gas markets have been put on the agenda of the Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia for Energy, which is taking place today in Vitebsk.

Parliamentarians will summarize the implementation of the Decree of the Supreme State Council of the Union State "On the main directions of implementing the provisions of the Treaty on the Creation of the Union State for 2021-2023" regarding the Union program for the formation of a unified electricity market of the Union State and the Union program for the formation of a unified gas market of the Union State.

The head of Vitebsk region, Alexander Subbotin, met with representatives of the Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia for Energy.

Alexander Subbotin emphasized the importance of the issues submitted for discussion. Energy infrastructure is one of the main ones within the framework of the Union State.

- We will show what we have achieved, and listen to what advice we are given. I think all of this contributes to our further development, - noted the head of the region.

– At the commission meeting, we plan to consider issues of interregional and cross-border cooperation between the Smolensk and Vitebsk regions. We note that this cooperation is actively developing in the energy sector as well. Belarusian gas workers are actively involved in the gasification of the Smolensk region. Five contracts worth 205 million Russian rubles have already been signed. During their implementation, 40 km of gas networks will be built and 550 households will be connected. In addition, we plan to consider the progress of the implementation of Union State programs in the energy sector, as well as the initiative of the Tyumen region and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Belarus, as the state body assigned to this region, to hold a patriotic festival dedicated to the Hero of the Soviet Union, the defender of the Brest Fortress, Andrei Kizhevatov, – said the chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly commission for energy, Alexey Kushnarenko.
