Today, a kettlebell lifting universiad was held at the P.M. Masherov Vitebsk State University. More than 40 university students took part in it. The faculty of training foreign citizens won.
During the competitions, the head of the Vitebsk region, Nikolay Sherstnev, conducted a master class for students. He took turns lifting 16, 24, and 32 kg kettlebells, spoke about his journey into kettlebell lifting, and demonstrated the correct technique for performing the lift. The governor is a world record holder - he lifted a 32 kg kettlebell 61 times in 1 minute. So far, no one has been able to surpass this result. For his high achievements in strength sports, Nikolay Sherstnev was awarded the certificate and badge of a master of kettlebell lifting of international class today.
Addressing the participants of the competition, the head of the Vitebsk region noted that a man should always keep himself in shape and be ready to defend his family and country. A kettlebell will help strengthen the body - it does not take up much space and can be in everyone's room. "To get results, you need to train from childhood. At your age, you should engage in strength sports. Results will never come if there is no strength and patience. Set goals, learn to overcome yourself. Also, do not refer to your age or lack of time. This is all our irresponsibility, there is always an opportunity to find time for yourself," Nikolay Sherstnev emphasized.
Speaking about the universiad, the governor wished that it would become a tradition and that such competitions at VSU would begin to gather student athletes from all universities in the northern region.
Today, events dedicated to the celebration of Fatherland Defenders' Day were held at Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov.
