Head of Vitebsk region Nikolai Shersnev supported the initiative to create a university branch in Orsha

- Where will they come from to work in production, if not from the Orsha region? Why not train specialists with higher education right here? This would help stop the outflow of the population from the district. A branch of one or several universities can be opened in Orsha. To do this, a number of issues need to be worked out in detail, including which specialties will be taught and what the enrollment will be. In parallel, it is necessary to provide these specialists with housing by building apartment buildings, similar to what was done in Andreevshchina for medical workers or Orekhovsk for energy system specialists, - noted Nikolai Sherstnev.
