The main Christmas tree of the Dvina region will gather about a thousand schoolchildren
Amazing adventures and a miraculous encounter await the participants of the regional charity festival in Vitebsk on December 29, the organizers reported.
The main regional Christmas tree will gather about 1,000 schoolchildren from different parts of the region at the "Vitebsk" concert hall. Invitations have been extended to orphans and children left without parental care, pupils of children's boarding institutions, children with disabilities, children from large and low-income families, refugee families, and other categories in need of additional attention and support.
The main regional charity festival will also welcome outstanding students, schoolchildren with creative and sports achievements, and others. Children will be spectators of the interactive musical "The Wizard of Oz," prepared by the "Vitebsk" Cultural Center. Guests of the festival will be invited to travel to a wondrous land inhabited by fairies and witches, where animals and birds can talk, but most importantly, where real magic resides. That is why, on New Year's Eve, Dorothy, Toto, and her loyal friends hurry to the Wizard of Oz in search of miracles. Together with the fairy-tale characters, the children will experience amazing adventures and discover what true wonder is.
The musical features leading creative groups from the Cultural Center, the city, and the region: the dance ensembles "Lyavonikha" and "Egoza," the choreography ensemble "Zorka," the song and music theater "Prostory," the pop song studio "Forum," the stage art studio "Art-Project," the show ballet "Sensation," the circus studio "Feeriya," and others.
The regional festival is one of the main events of the republican New Year's charity campaign "Our Children" in the region. Representatives of the regional executive committee and its structural divisions, district and city executive committees, administrations of districts in Vitebsk, and local councils of deputies of all levels take part in the campaign events. Officials visit children's boarding institutions, foster and adoptive families, family-type children's homes, families raising children with disabilities, correctional and developmental training and rehabilitation centers, and children's hospitals. Heads of local authorities congratulate children on New Year and Christmas, present gifts, and provide assistance in solving problems. The "Our Children" New Year's charity campaign has been held in Belarus from December 10, 2015, to January 10, 2016.
