The main thing is not to be indifferent: pre-election information and agitation pickets are actively taking place in Vitebsk

Small islands in the busiest places of Vitebsk: initiative groups are working today in the most popular corners of the regional center. There is particular liveliness after work hours and on weekends.

— Here, near the shopping center, I often see election pickets, — pensioner Irina Yaskevich is already carefully studying the leaflets. — All the candidates are familiar, authoritative people. You can vote. How important is the deputy's work? Well, they are our representatives! First we elect, and then we will hold them accountable for their work.

Irina Zakharovna recalls: once there were problems with the basement in their apartment building. They contacted the housing and communal services several times — without success. Eventually, they went to see a deputy — and everything was resolved! But housing and communal nuances are just a drop in the ocean of matters managed by representatives of local Soviets.

Alesya Filipovich is a sole proprietor. She knows firsthand: if you want to change something in life, take action and do it, don't wait for a miracle. It's the same with elections. You can't be indifferent and think that your vote doesn't matter.

— It absolutely matters! — the interlocutor is convinced. — Whoever we elect will defend our interests. We don't need chaos, thank you, we've felt before what permissiveness leads to... And so as not to blame anyone later, today we need to have our say. I, for example, am satisfied with everything and want stability for my children and grandchildren. My elder daughter graduated from the Technological University, she is also in business. My younger daughter studies at a gymnasium, preparing to enter the Faculty of Foreign Languages. If there is peace in the country, I will be at peace about them.

Elena Gruzdeva approaches us. She works in education. She is also convinced that Belarusians determine their own lives. And there are no trifles in election campaigns and cannot be.

— Both my son and daughter have received higher education, they have settled well. I will soon become a mother-in-law. The young family dreams of building their own house, and I am sure: everything will work out for them. In Belarus now, to everyone else's envy, everything is excellent: you can get an education and earn money. If, of course, you are not afraid of hard work.

Lidiya Khalen, a mother of many children, joins the conversation.kovo. One-year-old Artyom is in a stroller, eighth-grader Maxim is nearby, and Nikita is at home. Three sons, three hopes...

— Elections are not just a date on the calendar, they are an important and necessary event for everyone. The near future depends on the right position, — says the Vitebsk resident.

Our interlocutor already knows the candidates for deputies in her polling station: she has studied their biographies and familiarized herself with their programs. She has made her choice. She admits: it's scary to watch TV lately – wars, armed conflicts, refugees...

— First of all, I want Belarus to remain a reliable, peaceful haven, — emphasizes Lidiya Khalenkova. — We grew up in peace, and we need to pass on the traditions of peace and friendship to our children as an inheritance. Now, as a large family, with the help of the state, we are building a new apartment and using other benefits. I am calmly raising my sons and am on parental leave. I know that such three-year paid leaves are hard to find in other countries... Our salaries are also fine. I am a doctor by profession, and I know that my colleagues recently had their salaries increased again. What else is needed? Only one's own firm civic position. These are not empty words. There's no other way to put it – we choose our own lives.
