Glubokoye gymnasium students received a letter from Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain

Глубокские гимназисты получили письмо от королевы Великобритании Елизаветы II
Students of the Glubokoe District Gymnasium received a letter from Buckingham Palace. The envelope with watermarks and a coat of arms contained a postcard with a portrait of Her Majesty.

Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain sincerely thanked the children for their warm congratulations, calling them friends. The second letter, sent from the office of the Queen of Great Britain, states that Her Majesty is grateful to the gymnasium students for the postcard sent in the spring.

...And this mysterious story began with the Foreign Languages Week, held at the gymnasium in April of this year. As part of numerous events, there was a meeting dedicated to the royal dynasty. The students then talked about an important date – Her Majesty's 90th birthday. The idea to write a letter to the Queen came unexpectedly. English language teachers Anna Atrakhimovich, Olga Aniskovich, Elena Rudak, and Natalia Yanush supported the students' initiative.

— Students from different classes wrote the letter together, — recalls Natalia Adamovich, Deputy Director of the Gymnasium for Academic Affairs. — In simple words, without pompous phrases, which is why it turned out so sincere and heartfelt. The envelope was sent the same day.

According to Natalia Afetovna, a laminated copy of the royal letter will henceforth be kept in the foreign languages office, and the original is currently in the director's office. The very fact of correspondence with the Queen has already been entered into the gymnasium's chronicle.

In this educational institution, foreign languages are studied at an advanced level. Recently, many gymnasium students have become interested in postcrossing. They send postcards, signed in different languages, all over the world and receive equally colorful greetings from new friends from other countries.
