Glubokoye rescuers prevented the ignition of 15 tons of solvent in a tanker

Employees of the Glubokoye District Department for Emergency Situations prevented the ignition of a tanker truck carrying 15 tons of toluene solvent worth about Br40 million, Marina Fando, press secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, told a BELTA correspondent. A fire broke out while the truck was parked. According to preliminary data, it was caused by a short circuit in the vehicle's electrical equipment. The driver of a 1978 Scania-143 attempted to extinguish the fire himself by disconnecting the battery from the engine compartment, but failed to do so due to the oil catching fire. He was taken to the district hospital with burns to 40% of his body, degrees 1-2. Rescuers who arrived at the scene promptly extinguished the fire, preventing the ignition of the cargo in the tanker truck. -0-
