Glubokoye cannery updated production output by almost 50% in Q1

May 11, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. OJSC "Gluboksky Cannery" has updated its product output by almost 50% in the first quarter, the enterprise informed a BELTA correspondent. The main new products of 2009 are green peas from frozen raw materials, sweet corn, and a Mexican mix, which includes sweet pepper (10%), peas and corn (45% each). In January-March, the enterprise produced 225 cans, 50 cans, and 140 cans of these products, respectively. These products have been well-received by consumers, so it is planned to increase their production in the future. The range of juices has become more diverse. Now, reconstituted juices without added sugar are produced here. The range of ready-to-eat fruit and vegetable preserves has also expanded. According to specialists, the development of new types of products became possible thanks to the extensive modernization of the enterprise, which began in 2006. During this period, invested funds for technical re-equipment amounted to over Br10 billion. These funds were used for the reconstruction of the cannery and the installation of modern lines for the production of green peas and juices. More than half of the products are now produced in modern packaging. For example, juices are bottled in "Tetra Pak" packaging, and canned vegetables are packed in tin cans and glass jars with "twist-off" lids. Thanks to their attractive appearance and high quality, the plant's products are in constant demand among consumers, and the company's green peas successfully compete with imported analogues. In January-April, the plant produced products worth Br2.5 billion, which is 74.2% more than in the same period last year. The main part of the products is sold in Belarus. A small part is exported to Russia and Kazakhstan. These are mainly ready-to-eat products, green peas, and juices. The enterprise was founded in 1946 and transformed into an OJSC in 2002. It specializes in the production of fruit and vegetable products, ready-to-eat preserves, juices, and concentrates. The range of products manufactured includes about 100 items. The plant's production capacity is about 32 million cans of preserves per year. -0-
