Glubokoye Experimental Forestry Enterprise supplied a batch of seeds to Great Britain

The Glubokoye Experimental Forestry Enterprise has supplied a batch of seeds to Great Britain for the first time, as reported by the Vitebsk State Production Forestry Association.

"The supply included 15 kg of European spruce seeds worth Br14 thousand. Further cooperation options for the end of this year and the beginning of next year are currently being considered," the association noted.

The Glubokoye Experimental Forestry Enterprise is known for the high quality of its seed material and planting stock, which allows it to successfully operate in the domestic market, as well as export to Sweden. In order to develop this area, a complex for growing planting stock with a closed root system with a capacity of 2.6 million seedlings per year was opened on the basis of the forestry enterprise's nursery in 2018, with a further prospect of increasing production capacity to 3.5 million units. The complex allows for the creation of forest stands with planting stock with improved hereditary properties for faster and higher quality forest reproduction.

In total, the forestry enterprises of the Vitebsk State Production Forestry Association sold over 10 million forest plants this spring, mainly European spruce and Scots pine, worth Br650 thousand, as well as 137 kg of seeds. The Glubokoye Experimental Forestry Enterprise sold planting stock worth Br50.7 thousand, including ornamental plants worth Br14.4 thousand, and pine and spruce seedlings worth Br35.7 thousand.
