Glubokoye district leads in the harvest in the Vitebsk region

Glubokoye District Leads Harvesting in Vitebsk Region, Reported Chairman of the Regional Organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Agro-Industrial Complex Workers Viktor Gutorov.

According to information as of August 14, Glubokoye District has harvested 88.6% of the areas with an average yield of 28 centners per hectare. The harvesting is planned to be completed here by the end of the current week. Also among the leaders of the region are Chashniki District (86.4% of areas harvested), Polotsk District (84.9%), Postavy District (84.6%), and Beshenkovichi District (82.8%). Grain harvesting in these districts is also planned to be completed in the coming days.

The weather is also urging the farmers' activity: due to rains, the pace of work in the region has decreased from 4-4.5% of areas per day to 2.3%. In total, 72.6% of the areas, or 227 thousand hectares, have been harvested in the region. 593 thousand tons of grain have been threshed with an average yield of 26.1 centners per hectare. The highest yields are in the farms of Polotsk and Vitebsk districts (32.6 centners per hectare each).

Good yields and favorable weather contribute to the replenishment of the harvesting leaders' cohort. Currently, 45 thousand-ton crews are working in the fields of the region, and three crews have threshed 2 thousand tons of grain each. The only three-thousand-ton crew in the region – the crew of the Vitebsk Meat Processing Plant – is harvesting grain in the fields of Lepel District, confidently approaching the 4 thousand-ton mark.
