The Glubokoye district became a participant in the European project "Green Corridor East-West"

October 2, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Glubokoye district of the Vitebsk region has become a participant in the European project "Green Corridor East-West," Alexander Kolbasich, Chairman of the Glubokoye District Council of Deputies, informed a BELTA correspondent today. The "Green Corridor" program covers 25 states and involves the creation of an efficient transport route connecting Northern Europe, the Far East, and China. The project is designed for the period up to 2030, and its coordinator is the self-government of the Blekinge province (Sweden). The organization of direct freight and passenger traffic between East and West will not only improve logistics but also establish communication links and contribute to the development of tourist and recreational infrastructure. Taking all this into account, the Glubokoye District Council, together with the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and interested public organizations, developed proposals for participation in the "Green Corridor" program and received support at a meeting of European program experts. According to Alexander Kolbasich, work on the implementation of the program in the district is now beginning. Initially, the volume of technical assistance will be about 350 thousand euros. These funds will be used to familiarize with the roadside service infrastructure and logistics centers in Sweden, Germany, Poland, and Russia, where the first part of the project is being implemented. It is expected that from 2013, direct financing of work on creating an efficient transport corridor in the district will begin. -0-
