January 12, Minsk / Andrey Asfura - BELTA /. A ski resort is planned to be built in the Braslav district of the Vitebsk region. This was announced today to journalists by the Director of the Department of Tourism of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of Belarus, Vadim Karmazin, according to a BELTA correspondent. Other tourist facilities will also appear in the Braslav district in the coming years. Currently, a development program for the Braslav district is being prepared. "The Vitebsk region is the northernmost in Belarus, so it is considered interesting for winter tourism," stated the Director of the Department. In addition, in 2011, it is planned to extend the existing slope in Mozyr. The most popular ski resorts among Belarusians and foreigners are such well-known complexes as "Silichi" and "Logoisk". "Of course, Belarus does not have such large ski resorts as in Poland, but the existing ski complexes are in demand among the population," emphasized Vadim Karmazin. He also said that about 1.2 thousand small ice rinks have been set up in Belarus in the current winter season. -0-
