Gorodok became the second district center in the Vitebsk region where Chinese is taught

Chinese language courses have opened in Gorodok, Vitebsk region, reported Galina Simurova, director of the Gorodok Center for Children and Youth, on the basis of which the new service is offered.

Gorodok became the second district center in the region after Orsha where one can study the language of the Celestial Empire. And not only schoolchildren. The first enrolled group will start classes on October 17. 15 people expressed a desire to study Chinese – final-year students and working youth.

Many intend to use the acquired knowledge in their professional activities, and future applicants want to continue studying the language at the university level later.

"Foreign language courses are a new service for us. For many years, the "Radost" early development school has been operating at the center, which is mainly focused on children aged 4-6. The kids are engaged in choreography, singing, music, and fine arts. And this year we decided to enroll a slightly older group (5-6 years old) to study English. And our additional education teacher Svetlana Mezhevich, a very versatile person, by the way, will soon return from an internship in the UAE, where she is acquiring Arabic skills, suggested teaching Chinese as well – for adults. There were enough interested people. Perhaps we will enroll a second group," added Galina Simurova. The intensification of relations between our country and China in various spheres of life contributes to the growing interest in the Chinese language every year.

In the Vitebsk region, Secondary School No. 44 of the regional center works most closely in this direction, where Chinese has been taught since 2003, and a Confucius classroom was opened in 2014. A similar classroom is also available at the Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov, where language courses are also organized.
