The readiness of equipment for sowing in Belarus is 96-98%
March 24, Minsk / Olga Belyavskaya - BELTA /. The readiness of equipment for spring field work in Belarus is 96-98%. This was announced today at a press conference in Minsk by Leonid Marinich, head of the main department for mechanization and technological progress of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, BELTA correspondent reports.
More than 50,000 tractors and 2.5 thousand wide-cut sowing and tillage units will be involved in the current sowing campaign. "By May, the Minsk Tractor Works will supply agricultural organizations with about 500 new tractors out of the 1,000 units scheduled for delivery this year," the specialist said.
Leonid Marinich noted the problem of personnel shortage for organizing the operation of high-power tractors in two shifts in certain farms of the country. Such a problem exists in Malorita, Postavy, and Glubokoye districts. "To solve it, machine operators will be redeployed from other regions and industrial enterprises," he said.
The majority of agricultural organizations in the republic are provided with fuel and lubricants for 5-7 days of work. However, in some agricultural organizations in the Vitebsk and Mogilev regions, fuel reserves are sufficient for only 2-3 days of work. "Given that the mass sowing will not begin before the first days of April, we still have time to fulfill the assigned task of accumulating fuel and lubricants," Leonid Marinich said. -0-
