G. Rapota does not consider it necessary to create a coordination council to guide integration in the post-Soviet space
July 15, Vitebsk / Alexander Sam - BELTA /. State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota does not consider it necessary to create a coordination council to manage integration processes in the post-Soviet space. He stated this today at a press conference in Vitebsk, a BELTA correspondent reports.
Grigory Rapota noted that the CIS, EurAsEC, SCO, GUAM, and CSTO are currently operating. "There are many structures. The search is underway for how states that have gained independence and are looking for their place in this world can better interact. There have been many hesitations, disputes about which model to develop," Grigory Rapota said.
The State Secretary emphasized that states should develop not according to someone's models, but according to their own, taking into account their specifics. "It is very good that there are many integration associations. Life itself will weed out the unnecessary," Grigory Rapota said.
He also noted that the CIS is a very good negotiation platform for states, and it is extremely important to preserve it.
"I think that the most promising remains the Customs Union, which has already been formed, it remains to fill it with concrete content, and the Single Economic Space," Grigory Rapota said. At the same time, he noted that he does not see the need to create a single center for coordinating integration processes in the post-Soviet space. In Grigory Rapota's opinion, "it is impossible to fit everyone into one mold." All issues can be discussed on the CIS platform.
"We will go each our own way, but holding hands tightly," Grigory Rapota summed up. -0-
