The State Customs Committee of Belarus is developing a concept for the development of the customs service for 2011-2015
September 30, Vitebsk / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. The State Customs Committee of Belarus is developing a concept for the development of the customs service for 2011-2015. This was announced today by Vasily Dementey, Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee, at a joint meeting of the commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia on Security, Defense and Crime Prevention and representatives of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, legislative bodies of the Pskov and Smolensk regions in Vitebsk, BELTA correspondent reports.
According to Vasily Dementey, the growth in the volume of international trade within the Customs Union confirms the need to reform the system of customs authorities of Belarus and redistribute personnel to strengthen checkpoints on the external borders of the Customs Union.
The concept will be based on the developing "Electronic Customs" project, which provides for the further implementation and development of promising information customs technologies and is aimed at expanding interaction with participants in international trade, creating favorable conditions for organizations and enterprises engaged in foreign economic activities. The concept envisages the development of the information and communication infrastructure of customs authorities, as well as state administration bodies and participants in foreign economic activities, and improving the quality and accessibility of information services provided. "Ultimately, this will allow us to move certain types of control outside the territory of checkpoints, leaving only two services at the border - border and customs," Vasily Dementey noted. -0-
