Igor Petrishenko familiarized himself with the development prospects of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Center for Medical Rehabilitation for Disabled Persons and Veterans of Combat Operations in the Territory of Other States
First of all, Igor Viktorovich was interested in the progress of the construction of new blocks, which began to be erected back in 1997. Then, due to lack of funds, the construction was frozen twice. What needs to be done to exclude this facility from the list of long-term construction projects? This is precisely what the Deputy Prime Minister focused on.
– We have discussed further management actions. There are adjustments to the design and estimate documentation, there will be funding, and we expect that all three new blocks will be commissioned next year. This will allow us to provide additional services not only to residents of the Vitebsk region but also to the entire country. Since this is the only medical institution that deals with the restoration of health for veterans who participated in local combat operations. A person's further ability to work depends on rehabilitation. This is an improvement in the quality of life, to which the state pays close attention and allocates funds for such centers to function effectively for the benefit of our people, – noted Igor Petrishenko.
The Vitebsk Regional Clinical Center was established in 1994. During this time, as the chief physician of the healthcare institution, Igor Mishchuk, said, about 73 thousand patients have received help here. The center also provides paid services, including for foreign citizens from near and far abroad. About two thousand people from 18 countries have undergone rehabilitation.
– We are trying to apply modern methods of health restoration. We have purchased effective exercise machines. We have opened a center for Chinese medicine, three of our specialists underwent internships in Beijing hospitals and are now widely applying the acquired knowledge, – explained Igor Fyodorovich.
Last year, the center was included in the republican investment program, which will allow the completion of the planned blocks. In the new premises, a multidisciplinary department for 60 beds will be opened, where, in addition to combat veterans, residents of the Vitebsk region will undergo rehabilitation. And additionally, wards for patients who have had a stroke. All conditions for people with disabilities will be created there. Defectologist and speech therapist offices will be additionally opened. Modern equipment has been purchased, in particular, exercise machines, contactless massage couches, a lift for the pool, and more.
Igor Petrishenko familiarized himself with the work of the rehabilitation center, talked with patients who expressed gratitude to the people in white coats. He promised the institution's management assistance in renovating the old building.
