Abbess Evdokia considers the awarding of the "For Spiritual Revival" prize to her as an assessment of the contribution of the Spaso-Yefrosinievsky Monastery

January 5, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The special prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus "For Spiritual Revival" is, first and foremost, an assessment of the monastery's activities in the name of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk and the cause of education. This is how Abbess Evdokia (Lyubov Levshuk), the head of the Holy Euphrosyne Convent in Polotsk, assessed her being awarded this high honor in a conversation with a BELTA correspondent. "We are continuing the cause of education started by Euphrosyne and are trying to do everything in our power," said the head of the monastery. The "For Spiritual Revival" prize for 2010 was awarded to the abbess for her significant contribution to the spiritual revival of Belarus, her publishing and spiritual education activities, and her fruitful work in preserving historical and cultural values. Since its revival in 1990, the monastery has been engaged in extensive publishing activities, publishing materials about the life of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk and the history of the Polotsk diocese. For the 100th anniversary of the transfer of the saint's relics from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra to Polotsk in 2010, the monastery published the album "Polotsk Rejoicing," which contains unique documents and photographs about this significant event for believers, many of which were seen by the general public for the first time. Thousands of pilgrims visit the monastery annually. According to the nuns, the distinguishing feature of Mother Abbess is her love for people, regardless of whether they are believers or are just seeking their way to God. She tries to help everyone and knows how to encourage them with a kind word. Lyubov Levshuk came to the monastery when she was 20 years old, and for over 30 years she has been serving the Lord. She became the head of the Holy Euphrosyne Convent in 2004. Vladimir Tochilo, Chairman of the Polotsk City Executive Committee, highly praised the abbess's merits in the cause of spiritual revival in a conversation with a BELTA correspondent. "The head of the Holy Euphrosyne Convent is a person with high spiritual qualities, diligence, and hard work, who selflessly serves in the name of St. Euphrosyne," said Vladimir Tochilo. She does a lot to preserve not only the monastery itself but also the historical and architectural monuments belonging to all of Belarus, among which a special place is occupied by the Holy Transfiguration Church, built in the 12th century, believed to be according to the design of the heavenly patroness - Euphrosyne. -0-
