Names of presidential candidates to be known in July - CEC
Members of the initiative groups for the nomination of candidates for President will collect signatures from May 21 to June 19 inclusive. Signature sheets are checked for 20 days. "From July 5 to July 14, the Central Commission will hold a meeting, and then the people will learn the lists of candidates for President. They will all receive free airtime on television and radio, and newspaper space. In addition, the CEC will produce information booklets with brief biographical data of each candidate," said Lidiya Yarmoshyna.
Answering a question about inviting international observers to the elections, the Chairperson of the CEC informed that it has not yet been decided. "The issue with foreign observers has not yet been resolved, taking into account the complex situation. We will return to it a little later, perhaps in June," noted the head of the Central Election Commission.
As reported, the House of Representatives has scheduled the presidential elections for August 9. Early voting will take place from August 4 to August 8. The Central Election Commission must summarize the election results no later than August 19. A second round, if necessary, is scheduled to take place within a two-week period, i.e., by August 23.
