Innovative technologies of scientific and practical centers should be widely implemented in the regions - I. Pikirenya
November 11, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Minimally invasive surgical intervention technologies have been introduced in all regions of Belarus, including in many district centers. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Ivan Pikirenya, Chief Surgeon of the Ministry of Health of Belarus. He is participating in the 14th Congress of Surgeons of Belarus, which is taking place today in Vitebsk.
"It is enough to say that, for example, in the Gomel region, diagnostic laparoscopy can be performed in 13 district centers almost around the clock," said Ivan Pikirenya.
According to him, high technologies of surgical care have become widespread in Belarus, which allows providing almost all types of surgical care at the level of the world's leading countries. In particular, over the last 4 years, transplantology, cardiac surgery, and neurosurgery have seen significant development, and a large base of republican scientific and practical centers has been created.
Ivan Pikirenya considers the fact that foreign patients are already seeking help from Belarusian specialists as one of the results of this development, especially concerning types of surgical care such as kidney, liver, and heart transplantation, neurosurgical interventions, and assistance in traumatology and orthopedics. For instance, Belarusian specialists have mastered new methods for treating periarticular and intra-articular fractures of limb bones, and complex pelvic bone fractures. Hip and knee joint replacement has been mastered in all regional centers and is being introduced at the inter-district level.
One of the promising tasks of the surgical service is the transfer of innovative technologies, being developed in republican scientific and practical centers, directly to the regions, to medical institutions in regional and district centers. To this end, special attention must be paid to the training and professional development of surgeons, and the implementation of distance learning and on-the-job training. New forms and methods of such work are planned to be discussed at the 14th Congress of Surgeons, which will conclude on November 12. -0-
