Foreigners will fill the health resorts of the Vitebsk region during the New Year holidays

November 26, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Vouchers to health resorts in the Vitebsk region for the New Year holidays have already been completely sold out. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Elena Andreykova, head of the Vitebsk regional department of the republican center for health improvement and sanatorium-resort treatment of the population. Sanatoriums are very popular with foreign citizens. They account for about 80% of all places. For example, in the Lepel military sanatorium, foreigners will make up 70% of all vacationers. Russians, Estonians, and Latvians will spend the New Year holidays here. In the "Lesnye Ozera" sanatorium, there will be even more foreign guests - about 80%. The range of medical services that this health resort will offer to Germans, Swiss, and vacationers from Russia, Lithuania, and Latvia includes a cryosauna, hirudotherapy, acupuncture for smoking cessation, and much more. And one of the main attractions for the European public will be a Slavic entertainment - Russian sleigh rides. The flow of foreign guests choosing Belarusian health resorts for treatment and recreation is constantly increasing, Elena Andreykova noted. Thus, if for the whole of 2008, 10,000 foreigners visited the sanatoriums of the Dvina region, then for January-November of this year, the number reached 11.4 thousand people. A comprehensive set of measures related to the development of services and technical base is being implemented to attract vacationers. Currently, health resorts in the Vitebsk region offer more than 340 types of paid services. Among the latest innovations are cryosaunas in the "Lesnye Ozera" and "Borovoe" sanatoriums. The latter also prepares decoctions of medicinal herbs and pampers its clients with elite varieties of tea. The Lepel military sanatorium is ready to diversify the lives of its guests with excursions to the capital and nearby attractions. "Zheleznodorozhnik" is building a medical building with a swimming pool. Thus, each health resort is looking for ways to improve its efficiency. -0-
