The Institute of Technical Acoustics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will present its developments at a forum in the Republic of Korea
March 31, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. The delegation of the Institute of Technical Acoustics (ITA) of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus plans to discuss the opportunities and directions for the development of scientific and technical cooperation with South Korean scientific organizations at the KAERI-BELARUS Korean-Belarusian Forum, which will be held in early April in Daejeon (Republic of Korea). The Director of the Institute, Doctor of Technical Sciences Vasily Rubanik, informed a BELTA correspondent about this.
Vitebsk scientists will familiarize themselves with the activities of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), present the scientific and technical developments of the ITA of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and also discuss the possibilities of concluding agreements in the field of scientific research with potential partners.
As Vasily Rubanik noted, one of the promising areas of cooperation with South Korean scientists is the production of coatings and compounds of dissimilar metals using gas-dynamic spraying. The ITA of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is actively working on this topic, and the institute's developments have been implemented at the Minsk and Baranovichi aircraft repair plants. The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute also shows interest in cooperation with the ITA in this field.
The technology of gas-dynamic coating application is based on the effect of fixing solid particles moving at supersonic speed on the surface of a material upon impact with it. It allows solving a whole range of problems that cannot be solved by other methods, in particular, for the restoration of parts of mechanisms and machines. At the same time, the technology provides a localized effect on the processed part with minimal heating.
The visit of the delegation of the Institute of Technical Acoustics is organized within the framework of the implementation of the protocol of intentions signed by the ITA with the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) following the Days of Science and Technology of Belarus in the Republic of Korea in December 2008. -0-
