Investments in the economy of the Vitebsk region in the first half of the year increased by 21.4% and exceeded Br2 trillion.

Investments in the development of the economy and social sphere of the Vitebsk region in January-June this year amounted to Br2032.6 billion, or 121.4% compared to the same period last year, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Economy Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. Organizations and enterprises subordinate to local Soviets and executive bodies invested Br876.3 billion, small and medium-sized businesses invested Br256.3 billion. Almost every fifth ruble of investment went into housing construction: Br441.8 billion was directed to this sphere, or 21.7% of the total investment volume. 296.1 thousand sq.m. of housing were commissioned. The growth rate of industrial production in the first half of the year at comparable prices was 109.9% compared to the same period last year, with a target of 111%. Enterprises of republican and regional subordination coped with the tasks set, however, in organizations without departmental subordination, the production volume barely reached 95% with a plan of 124%. -0-
