Investments in the development of educational facilities in the Vitebsk region in 2012 will amount to at least Br200 billion.

September 1, Polotsk / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. In the Vitebsk region in 2012, it is planned to allocate Br200 billion for the development and strengthening of the material and technical base of educational institutions. This was announced today to journalists by the chairman of the regional executive committee, Alexander Kosinets. In Polotsk, the head of the region took part in the opening of a new academic building and stadium of Secondary School No. 18 named after Euphrosyne of Polotsk, BELTA correspondent reports.

Along with the construction of new educational facilities, of which about 30 are to be commissioned in the region over five years, attention is also paid to the modernization of the material and technical base of existing schools. "When forming the regional budget for 2012, the possibility of allocating at least Br200 billion each for the strengthening and development of educational and healthcare facilities is being considered," the head of the regional executive committee noted. At the same time, one of the main problems in the region in the field of education is small-sized schools, which account for about 28% of the total number of such institutions. In this regard, it is necessary today to actively engage in the formation of the human resources potential of these educational institutions, where teachers should have several related academic specialties.

A lot is being done in the Vitebsk region to create a high-quality, competitive education system. Thus, in Polotsk, with the commissioning of the fifth (and last) academic building and stadium, the creation of a powerful educational complex has been completed, Alexander Kosinets emphasized. All conditions have been created for obtaining a quality education, mastering the necessary skills, self-development, for leisure and physical education. More than Br22 billion of budget funds, as well as sponsorship, have been allocated for its construction.

The school has 70 classrooms, including specialized rooms for physics, biology, and chemistry, 56 methodological rooms for all academic disciplines, and 4 computer rooms with Internet access. The new 5th building houses an assembly hall with 420 seats, rooms for labor education and aesthetic development, and a school library. The formation of a healthy lifestyle at the school is facilitated by the presence of three gyms, including one with a 150-seat spectator stand and an electronic scoreboard. The school offers sections in football, volleyball, basketball, judo, and Greco-Roman wrestling. The school canteen, with a capacity of 650 seats, is equipped with modern technological equipment.

During his visit to the school, Alexander Kosinets decided to donate a set of video and audio equipment for the assembly hall to the educational institution. In addition, following discussions with parents of schoolchildren and residents of the adjacent residential area, the head of the region instructed to explore the possibility of building a kindergarten for 200-250 children near the school.-0-
