The investment potential of the Vitebsk region was presented in Moscow
The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, took part in the Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow.
The head of the region spoke at the "Eurasia of Regions" session with a report on "The Investment Potential of the Vitebsk Region".
On personnel training:
– Educational institutions of the Vitebsk region provide training in more than 170 specialties in demand by the economic sector of the region, the republic, and abroad.
To enhance the interaction between education, science, and production, the regional executive committee annually holds competitions for young scientists. Students constantly participate in the "100 Ideas for Belarus" and "WorldSkills" professional skills competitions.
A joint project has been developed to improve the training of young specialists based on agricultural organizations in the Vitebsk and Pskov regions.
On the implementation of projects in the agricultural sector:
- Investors are invited to discuss options for organizing the cultivation and processing of grain crops, flax, rapeseed, and vegetables, for establishing orchards and berry fields, with the introduction of technologies for long-term storage of berries, fruits, and potatoes, and product freezing.
The implementation of projects is aimed at developing a raw material base for the production of environmentally friendly products and medicinal raw materials.
With the involvement of investors, further increase in the production of vegetable, meat, dairy, and fish preserves, confectionery products, including those for diabetic nutrition, jams, starch, natural juices, and potato products is planned.
On industrial potential:
- The industrial potential of the region is open and oriented towards foreign markets. For most types of products, exports account for more than 50 percent of the manufactured volume.
Last year, products were exported to 88 countries worldwide.
To create the most attractive conditions for investors, two special economic zones have been established and are functioning for the development of industrial production and logistics.
About Natural Resources:
- The region's competitive advantage is the availability of unique natural resources. Approximately 400 thousand hectares have been identified based on a complex of factors (biodiversity, transport accessibility, environmental purity of the habitat).
The President of the Republic of Belarus has designated 211 plots located in the most picturesque and ecologically clean places of the Vitebsk region, including forest areas and over a hundred lakes, which are provided to investors on an application basis for the implementation of projects in the field of tourism, recreation, and health improvement.
About Projects of Socio-Economic Significance:
- Annually, over 200 projects of socio-economic significance worth 1 billion dollars are implemented in the Vitebsk region.
Today, we have formed the basis for projects on deep processing of petroleum products, small-tonnage chemistry, and composite materials.
Projects for the production of complex mineral fertilizers, and the release of veterinary and pharmaceutical preparations using biotechnological solutions are being developed.
Land plots have been formed for the construction of robotic livestock complexes, poultry farms, and greenhouses for year-round vegetable cultivation.
Special attention is paid to the development of software products for managing machine tool and electrical equipment.
Industrial sites have been prepared for organizing assembly production, e-commerce, terminal construction, and for distributing commodity flows to the regions of Russia, Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East.
