An investor will breathe new life into a late 19th-century architectural monument in Vitebsk
December 28, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. A monument of architecture of the 3rd category from the late 19th - early 20th centuries will get a second life as a result of an auction held today by the regional territorial fund "Vitebskoblimushchestvo", a BELTA correspondent reports.
The announced repeated tender for the sale of state property was declared invalid, as only one participant applied for the lot. In accordance with Decree No. 232 of May 5, 2009 "On some issues of conducting auctions (contests)", the organizers offered the sole bidder to purchase the lot of interest at a price exceeding the starting price by 5%. As a result, a single-story capital building with unfinished reconstruction with a total area of 175 sq.m was sold to a new owner for almost Br160 million. Simultaneously, the buyer acquired the right to lease a land plot of 0.0445 hectares for 50 years for the maintenance and servicing of the building.
The owner undertakes to use the real estate for placing a public and business facility, a cultural and exhibition center or office space, a retail outlet or a catering establishment. Reconstruction work on the architectural monument must be completed by the end of 2012.
The building is located in the historical development area "Zadvine" of the regional center, however, the exact date of its construction could not be established. Based on stylistic features, the building can be attributed to the late 19th - early 20th centuries; the structure has a number of architectural solutions for facades characteristic of residential buildings of that time. The building survived the Great Patriotic War, and since 1966 it was used as the Ostrovsky Children's Library. In 1999, a reconstruction project was developed, which was not implemented due to funding problems.
As a result of the auction held today, three more facilities of the former military town in Postavy will be put into economic circulation, which were exhibited with a starting selling price of one basic unit (Br35 thousand). One bidder registered for the lots, so the auction was declared invalid, and the sole participant agreed to purchase the real estate at a price exceeding the starting price by 5%. As a result, buildings with a total area of over 4 thousand sq.m were sold for more than Br100 thousand to the private production unitary enterprise "Postavy Furniture Center". The new owner plans to use the buildings of the former barracks, headquarters and warehouses of the military town to expand the enterprise's production base and create jobs. -0-
