The use of the trademark of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival is uncivilized - R. Bass
May 28, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The use of the trademark of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival has not yet acquired a civilized character. This point of view, answering a question from a BELTA correspondent, was expressed today at a press conference by Rodion Bass, Director of the Vitebsk Cultural Center and Director of the Directorate of the International Festival of Arts.
In 2009, the right to use the festival's trademark was granted to approximately 30 organizations. The directorate received a total of about Br2 million from these companies. The procedure for transferring rights and registering contracts is complex and costly for the directorate. Moreover, enterprises and entrepreneurs are not interested in producing souvenir products with the festival's emblem, believes Rodion Bass.
Products appearing this year with the "Slavianski Bazaar" marking (and in Vitebsk, bread, vodka, and ice cream are produced under this brand), according to Rodion Bass, are "illegal and underground." However, the directorate is not yet ready to defend its intellectual property rights due to the high costs of legal proceedings and expertise.
At the same time, it is precisely souvenir products with certain symbols that are in demand among tourists. Their production brings profit to entrepreneurs and is a support for festival organizers, as is the case with the popular country music festival in Poland, Rodion Bass added. -0-
