Researchers from Belarus, Russia, and the USA will take part in the Chagall Readings in Vitebsk

The XXVI Chagall Readings, dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the artist's birth, will be held on June 10-11 in Vitebsk, as reported by the Marc Chagall Museum.

Twelve researchers from Belarus, Russia, and the USA have registered to participate in this year's scientific conference. The reports presented at the readings are dedicated to the biography and creative heritage of Marc Chagall, as well as the life and work of the artist's famous contemporaries. For example, topics such as the revolution will be touched upon, there will be discussions about children's books illustrated by Chagall, and also about the renowned artist and theatrical space. The first day of the readings will conclude with the creative program "I will grow through you like grass..." (a dedication to Marc Chagall), prepared by the Documentary Theatre of Anna Sulima of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts. The program includes two parts. The first is a stage fantasy inspired by the master's works. The second part is documentary, based on memoirs and poetry. Chagall Readings have been held in Vitebsk annually since 1991.

The first conference was all-Union, and since 1992, the readings have become international. Over the years, dozens of researchers from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, France, Great Britain, Switzerland, the USA, Israel, Germany, Latvia, and other countries have participated in the readings. Most of the materials from the readings have been published in the issues of the "Chagall Collection" (there have been four of them) and the "Bulletin of the Marc Chagall Museum."
