The history of the Vitebsk region in song and dance will be presented in a concert by creative groups of the region in Minsk

May 26, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The glorious and heroic history of the Vitebsk region, from Euphrosyne of Polotsk to the present day, will be presented in a concert of amateur art groups dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. At the Palace of the Republic in Minsk on May 27, the best ensembles and performers of the region will perform in the program "Vitebsk Region - the Cradle of My Belarus," Larisa Olenskaya, Deputy Head of the Culture Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent. However, the first to greet the concertgoers will be masters of folk crafts. Potters, weavers, and willow basket makers will demonstrate their creations. And participants of national cuisine clubs promise to treat guests with delicacies from the lake region. Authentic songs, classical melodies, modern motifs, and, of course, songs about the Great Patriotic War loved by more than one generation will be heard from the main stage of the country. Dance groups will delight lovers of choreographic art with equally diverse performances. The concert program features ensembles well-known far beyond the Vitebsk region. Among them are the folk orchestra of Belarusian folk instruments of the Vitebsk Music College named after I. Sollertinsky, the honored amateur collectives of the Republic of Belarus, the choreographic ensemble "Zorka," the dance ensemble "Lyavonikha," the classical dance ensemble "Pirouette," and the balalaika octet "Vitebsk Virtuosos." However, the presence of experienced collectives will not at all embarrass the performers from the provinces, who may be less known but are no less talented, assured Larisa Olenskaya. Artists from Liozno, Gorodok, Dubrovno, Lepel, Glubokoe, Rossony, Postavy, Shumilino, and Senno districts will give the audience a meeting with direct folk songs and sparkling dances. The northern region has delegated more than 40 collectives and over a thousand artists to the capital. The youngest participant in the concert is only 4 years old, while the respectable age of the 82-year-old performer of authentic songs is evidenced only by her passport. The concert program was prepared by the directing and staging group of the Vitebsk Culture Center. -0-
