The results of the II Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine were commented on by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev
The II Forum of Regions, held in Zhytomyr, received great resonance. The meeting of the Presidents of Belarus and Ukraine, Alexander Lukashenko and Volodymyr Zelensky, gave it a special impetus. Not only political: a solid sum of signed contracts – 540 million dollars – was announced from all screens, internet sites, and newspaper pages. A worthy result that confirms not only economic scale but also draws attention to one very important factor: relations between the two peoples are strengthening.

— The Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine has become a good foundation for the activation and implementation of joint projects in various segments of the economy and the humanitarian sphere. The initiatives of the Vitebsk region, announced at the forum, concerned the effective use of industrial, agricultural, and tourism potential, increasing exports, and strengthening the interaction between science and business. In particular, we are interested in cooperation in production cooperation, opening assembly plants, participating in regional programs, and supplying on leasing terms.
There are good foundations for resuming cooperation for enterprises in the pharmaceutical industry. The first republican international pharmaceutical cluster has been created in Vitebsk, and a plant for the production of full-cycle drugs is under construction; the project is open for the participation of interested Ukrainian companies, as part of the raw materials are purchased here. In the field of mechanical engineering, we offer the Ukrainian market telescopic lifts, power and optical cables, excavator and trenching equipment, and water treatment plants of all complexity categories. The Vitebsk oil extraction plant has resumed sunflower seed purchases in the Zhytomyr and Volyn regions. Taking into account the phased construction of new dairy farms and pig complexes, the region is focused on attracting investments in the production of protein raw materials. In turn, high-quality seed potatoes, produced on the sowing areas of the Tolochin cannery, are in demand in Ukraine.
One of the steps to strengthen partnership with UkrainianThe signing of agreements on trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation with the administrations of Odesa, Vinnytsia, and Cherkasy regions within the Forum served as a key aspect. Of course, it is important to fill these agreements with concrete actions. We expect that the implementation of the planned initiatives will give new impetus to bilateral relations.
