The results of the XVI Republican "Energomarathon" competition were summed up in Vitebsk

Итоги XVI республиканского конкурса «Энергомарафон» подвели в Витебске
This time, the final stage of the "Energy Marathon" is taking place in the city where this movement originated, emphasized Vyacheslav Durnov, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, who took part in the event.

Vitebsk region is famous for its spiritual, cultural, and educational traditions. The northern region has many industrial giants, such as "Naftan," "Polotsk-Steklovolokno," "Belvest," etc., so special attention is paid to environmental issues. It is wonderful that not only adults but also schoolchildren are participating in this, offering creative ideas for energy and resource conservation. Thanks to the support of the Department for Energy Efficiency of the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus and the regional inspection body for the rational use of fuel and energy resources, the movement has reached the national level and is expanding every year, emphasized Vyacheslav Durnov.

According to the results of the qualifying regional stages of the competition, research by 128 participants reached the final, with many of them being representatives of the northern region. Take, for example, Secondary School No. 12 in Vitebsk, where extensive work on energy and resource conservation has been developed, involving both the youngest children, high school students, and teachers. The children-and-adults initiative, which disseminates innovative ideas for energy saving, has been operating at the school for 10 years. The website "Pridvinskaya Academy of Energy Saving" has been created – a school model of action that serves as a universal structure for the effective organization of the educational process for developing competencies in the field of energy and resource conservation.

Yesterday, after laying flowers at the Eternal Flame of the Victory Square memorial complex, participants of the "Energo Marathon" visited Secondary School No. 12 in Vitebsk, which has the status of a "green" school. For them, educational platforms "EnergoStrazh", "EnergoStart", "EnergoStil", created with the support of "Vitebskoblgaz" and "Vitebskenergo" enterprises, were demonstrated. The schoolchildren enthusiastically shared information about the innovations of the smart school, which features light-sensitive LED luminaires for outdoor lighting, climate control, and optimized consumption of hot and cold water supply and heating. According to preliminary data, this will help save up to 20% of all energy used by the school.

The students monitor the situation in real-time daily and collect data for research work, which contributes to the formation of a thrifty approach to resources.

Significant work is also being carried out at Vitebsk Gymnasium No. 7, where over the past three years, experience in energy saving has been systematized during both extracurricular and regular classes. The goal of the school project EnerG-7 is the pursuit of sustainable development in resource conservation.

At the exhibition in the Vitebsk Culture Center, where the award ceremony for the winners was held, one could get acquainted with the creative developments of children from other regions of Belarus. The "Energy-Saving Household" was presented by Gritskevich Secondary School of Nesvizh District. The essence of the project is the generation of own energy using solar batteries and biogas. The jury members were greatly impressed not only by the Vitebsk but also by the Gomel "wunderkinds," emphasized the Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization Valentin Tataritsky. Thus, a difficult task faced the judges to adequately assess certain developments. The main thing is the generation of ideas, many of which are later implemented in life. The active involvement of children in the saving process is expressed in various ways – through creativity in the form of drawings and posters, amateur art activities, and other forms. And in all this, indifference, care for the environment, and love for the homeland are manifested.

By the way, in the main nomination, representatives of the Vitebsk region took third place.
