Vitebsk region budget allocated Br400 million for the reconstruction of places of military glory

February 15, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Br400 million has been allocated from the budget of the Vitebsk region for the reconstruction of places of military glory for the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory, the chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Veterans Gennady Gerasimovich told a BELTA correspondent. Thus, funds will be directed to restoration and repair work at the officers' cemetery in the village of Stasevo, Liozno district, large military burial sites in the villages of Staroye Selo and Shapyury, Vitebsk district, restoration of a memorial sign at the site of the burned village of Zolotukhi in Dokshitsy district, and a number of other sites located in all regions of the region. At the same time, only building materials will be purchased with funds allocated from the budget, and repairs are planned to be carried out on a voluntary basis with the involvement of trade unions, work collectives, and activists of youth organizations, Gennady Gerasimovich said. In total, there are over 1.2 thousand memorial sites in the Vitebsk region, each of which requires constant public attention to maintain it in proper condition. In this regard, the permanent assignment of monuments, memorials and other places of military glory to specific district youth, labor and trade union organizations has become a very effective and successful solution, added the head of the regional veterans' organization. -0-
