December 18, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Voters in the Vitebsk region have been given complete freedom of expression. This conclusion was drawn by an observer from the CIS, Chairperson of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Pskov Region for Interethnic and Interfaith Relations, Liliya Bystrova, after visiting polling stations. In an interview with a BELTA correspondent, she shared her impressions of the election campaign.
The observer visited ten polling stations in the Vitebsk region. "The elections are organized clearly, transparently, and democratically everywhere," she stated. Liliya Bystrova noted that voters have complete and equal information about all candidates. "No single person is emphasized; voters are given freedom of expression," she added. The interlocutor also called the positive mood of voters and the benevolent, correct attitude of the members of the polling station commissions a positive aspect of the early voting.
The CIS observer met twice with colleagues from the OSCE mission. According to her, they also had no remarks on the course of the electoral process.
When visiting polling stations, most of which are located in rural schools, Liliya Bystrova noted the care that the authorities show for the younger generation. "It is obvious that Belarus is dynamically developing economically and at the same time shows great care for people, for the future generation. The country places great emphasis on a healthy lifestyle," she said. The Pskov and Vitebsk regions have great prospects for joint activities; business and fraternal ties need to be developed, she believes. -0-
