The Publishing House of the Belarusian Exarchate has completed the digitization of the Polotsk Gospel

November 22, Minsk / Tatyana Kiryushchenko - BELTA /. Employees of the publishing house of the Belarusian Exarchate have completed the digitization of the Polotsk Gospel (believed to have been written by Euphrosyne of Polotsk). This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the executive director of the publishing house, Vladimir Grozov. "Employees of the publishing house digitized the Polotsk Gospel in St. Petersburg - it is stored in the Pogodin collection at the National Library of Russia (NLR)," said Vladimir Grozov. "The book has been fully digitized for subsequent facsimile reproduction. The staff of the NLR provided great assistance in this. Now, meticulous work is required to prepare the photographed material for printing." The facsimile of the Polotsk Gospel is planned to be published by the 1150th anniversary of the founding of Polotsk, which will be celebrated in 2012. The publishing house of the Belarusian Exarchate, with the blessing of Metropolitan Filaret of Minsk and Slutsk, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, plans to create facsimile reproductions of such Orthodox written church rarities as the ancient "Suprasl Irmologion" and the Lavrishchevo Gospel, in addition to the Polotsk Gospel. Recall that in 2009, a facsimile of the Slutsk Gospel was released, the first copy of the book was presented to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus'. -0-
