The Kolas Theater's anniversary is being celebrated in Vitebsk
The exhibition "Theater in the Mirror of Time" has opened at the regional museum of local lore (Rathaus). The exposition consists of theatrical props, photo documents, books, documents from the collections of the museum of local lore, the Kolas Theater, the State Archive of the Vitebsk Region, the regional library, and the personal archives of the Kolas Theater staff.
The exhibition tells about the history of the theater, famous actors of the Kolas Theater, and performances of different years. In addition, a scientific and practical conference "Belarusian National Theater: Traditions, Search, Experiment" was held today directly at the theater itself.
Its participants discussed the problems of modern stage art, and the conversation focused on the history and formation of the Kolas Theater. Reports were also dedicated to actors, directors, and artists of the Vitebsk theater. On November 19, the theater will host the presentation of Arkady Podlipsky's book "Yakub Kolas National Academic Theater: Pages of the Past and Present". The publication is quite voluminous - about 300 pages. The book, among other things, reveals little-known facts from the history of the Kolas Theater. And on Monday, November 21, the Kolas Theater staff invites you to the festive creative evening "The Theater Landed in Vitebsk".
The theater was founded in Vitebsk on November 21, 1926, on the basis of the Belarusian drama studio, which existed from 1921 to 1926 at the M. Gorky Moscow Art Theater. In 1944, for achievements in the development of national culture, the theater was named after Yakub Kolas.
