The jubilee international Chagall readings opened today in Vitebsk

December 4, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The jubilee XX International Chagall Readings opened today in Vitebsk at the Marc Chagall Art Center, the director of the Marc Chagall Museum, Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya, told a BELTA correspondent. This time, art critics, publishers, and filmmakers studying the work of avant-garde artists have come to Vitebsk. Isaac Kushnir from St. Petersburg, the author-compiler and curator of the "Avant-garde on the Neva" series, became a guest of the readings. This series includes more than a dozen books dedicated to contemporary artists from St. Petersburg. The participants of the readings will be the first to get acquainted with the St. Petersburg publishing house "Vita Nova". This publishing house has a principled position: to combine academic preparation of texts with the best traditions of book printing, it is engaged in the production of limited edition collector's items. Documentary film director Vladimir Kaminsky will present four of his works at the readings. His interests include contemporary art and ethnography. Kaminsky's films are purchased by leading world television channels, including "Antenne 2" (France) and the international television company "Al Jazeera". All reports presented at the readings are published in an annual publication - the bulletin of the Marc Chagall Museum. Over the 20 years of the readings, 195 reports by researchers and art critics from Belarus, Great Britain, Germany, Israel, Latvia, Russia, the USA, Ukraine, France, Switzerland, Estonia, and South Africa have been published. -0-
